Product Development
Product development involves bringing concepts to marketable states. It builds upon my research, design, and development competencies and helps me understand how projects can be executed, ideally at a large scale. I developed a high baseline expertise through my prior experience with ‘JanataShield’ – a design project turned charity I ran during the pandemic. This competency combines strategic, future-thinking attitudes with hard skills in planning and executing and a fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes and the stages of developing a company.
My learning in the Digital Twins in Healthcare course further augmented this competency. Here, I explored theories on vignettes for MVPs and road-mapping for startups, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical applications (MDC, BE) (click here for complete roadmap). At the Honours Academy, I deepened my understanding by turning fundamental research into a business case, identifying and pitching to relevant stakeholders, and engaging in startup incubator competitions (TU/e contest). This experience reinforced my ability to create practical roadmaps and present compelling business cases (BE).
Engaging with design innovation methods provided me with a wide range of methodologies to analyse businesses and integrate design thinking into product development (CA, BE). My internship at Mijksenaar was particularly enlightening. I learned to execute projects at scale by creating production documentation for fabricators and contractors and evaluating supplier prototypes and quotations. This taught me the importance of detailed planning and collaboration in scaling projects successfully (TR, US).
These experiences have equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of product development, blending strategic foresight with practical execution. This enables me to transform innovative concepts into scalable products.
