The Future is to be Designed.
I want to one day integrate tangible, shape-morphing interface design and its open-making-driven design processes with my love for good mobility and travel systems’ systemic design approaches.
After my graduation, two pathways are present; the first is to pursue a Master's in Industrial Design, focussing on developing interactive systems incorporating novel, shape morphing, and programmable materials, deepening my understanding of multisensory design, and working towards integrating these new interfaces into travel and mobility experience projects. I see myself engaging in research through design processes to further explore applications of and user experience around these interfaces.
While I find research motivating and rewarding, I do not see it as the only pathway towards integrating these design disciplines I enjoy. I feel constrains imposed by needing to deliver projects to market may serve to guide this integration. This second pathway also arises from a practical and bureaucratic problem – immigration. Working in design consultancies will serve to show me how I can translate lab-based research into business practices. I can better scale my design work and can impact more people more directly. I can simultaneously resolve my residency question permanently.
The interdisciplinary activities I am bound to engage in each pathway will guide my next career moves or further education.
